The Salmon River in Idaho was running hot and heavy – heavy runoff caused the river to flow 10 – 15 feet deeper than normal. A bear that was trying to cross the river gets caught in the current and then trapped in an eddy.
Fortunately a group was traveling the river in a powered boat and came across the bear in the nick of time. The captain reported that the bear was definitely tiring and was getting sucked under when they came across him.
He was able to direct the power of the boat engines in the direction of the bear and push it out into the river currents where it was able to finally escape on its own. Check out the video below.
